Kent Bowman has been advising individuals and families through a broad range of financial topics since 1985.
Kent started his career in wealth management as an ‘Account Executive” for a major Wall Street firm, ultimately transitioning to become a branch manager of a competing Wall Street firm.
Kent is currently the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for the ARROW Financial Group. As such, he has developed a series of tax efficient, risk adjusted model portfolios which are used both by individual and corporate clients, as well as an option within 401k plans.
He has helped in business transitions and wealth transfer strategies for many years, and though he’s not attorney, he has gained extensive experience with wills, estate plans and tax strategies.
Kent is proud to be an Indiana University ‘Hoosier’ for his undergraduate years, a Michigan State University ‘Spartan’ and a University of Michigan ‘Wolverine’ for his graduate years.
Kent is also proud to say that he is both a Certified Financial Planner Professional (CFP®) and a Certified Investment Management Analyst® (CIMA).
Kent and his wife, Cherie, live in Clinton Township, Michigan with their two dogs, Bella (11) and Zoey (1 ½). Kent has three children; his daughter, Christina (25) and son, Derek (21) and his step-son, Robert (26).
Susan Hodess specializes in individual financial planning, insurance, and retirement planning.
Susan is a licensed Certified Financial Planner Professional and she is a long-standing member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA), National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA) and the Financial Services Institute (FSI).
Susan lives in West Bloomfield with her husband, Ron, and her two sons. She has been listed on the Governor's Honor Roll of Outstanding Volunteers for her service on numerous community boards and committees.
She is an active volunteer with the Autism Society of Oakland County, the Investment Committee for the Lighthouse of Oakland County, and the Friendship Circle.
Kent Commer has been in the financial services industry and working directly with clients since 1987. He started in the financial services industry becoming Director of Operations for a Registered Investment Advisory firm, and then as a financial advisor handling client accounts directly and focusing on their financial and estate planning requirements.
He founded Essex Financial Group in 1994 to focus on clients' financial planning and estate planning requirements before joining ARROW Financial Group.
Kent attended Wayne State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in speech communication in 1980. He’s continued his education by earning several securities credentials and registrations.
Kent is also licensed with the State of Michigan as a Resident Agent for Life, Health, and Disability Insurance and as a Resident Solicitor for Property, Casualty, and Liability Insurance.
He has extensive experience volunteering for and advising small non-profit organizations and has served as a Trustee for a local independent day school.
Kent currently lives with his family in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan where he has previously been an appointee to the Grosse Pointe Park Tax Increment Finance Authority.
Kevin Hurley has two highly specialized areas of expertise: qualified and non-qualified retirement plan consulting and management; and both traditional and non-traditional employee benefit strategies.
Kevin has specialized in the retirement plan area since 1998, when he helped establish a 401(k) plan for his first retirement plan client. Since that time, he has completed studies in personal financial planning at the Metropolitan State University in Denver. He has participated in numerous DC plan study groups and educational events focused on ERISA based retirement plans like 401(k), 457, 403(b)’s.
His mantra is “My clients are not those individuals who I work with today, but those who they grow into at retirement.”
He started in the financial industry in 1991 and founded Fiduciary Advisors LLC, a registered investment advisory which focused on qualified retirement plans and personal wealth management prior to joining the ARROW Financial Group.
Kevin and his wife, Tammy, 3 daughters who love sports--especially softball and golf. He has coached each of his girls over the years and has coached or assistant coached over 25 teams. He believes that a good coach, like a good financial advisor, is one who helps his athletes (clients) attain a level of success that they themselves didn’t believe they could reach.
He also sat on the boards of many charitable entities and fundraising committees in the Greater Detroit Area.
